Jeffrey Richard Horne
I am very sad to announce the passing of Jeff Horne.
Jeff served in the Regiment from 1961 until 1979. He was a
Sgt in Dragon Battery. I am sure many will remember him from that time.
We all extend our sympathy to all of his family at this difficult time.
Jeff's funeral took place at The Sacred Hearts Church Crematorium,
Tamworth on the 11th November 2011.

Mick Yeo
5th Oct 1946 - 27th Oct 2012
Mick sadly passed away after taking part in a
Half Marathon near to his home in Spain.
Mick loved his life in Spain with his wife Dot.

Clyde Pierre
16th Mar 1943 - 22nd Nov 2012

Clyde served with both 37 and 36 Regiments joining in
1962. He had a real love for music and recorded many
songs in his musical career.
A lovely man missed by so many.

Roy Pearson
Roy sadly passed away after an illness so bravely born. He served in 36 Regiment for many years and at one time ran the Regiments Recruiting Team.
Roy was a long serving member of the Shoeburyness RAA,
and at one time the Branches Chairman and Welfare Officer.

Albert Wootton
Ex BQMS Albert passed away on the 13th July 2013.
Albert was a very popular member of 36 Regiment and
a great influence to many.
Alberts Funeral took place at Rotherham Crematorium
on the 26th July.
Our Sympathy goes to Beryl and all his family.

Pat Paddy Ryan
23rd May 1944 - 18th Feb 2014
Paddy passed away peacfully at home on
Tuesday 18th Feb 2014 aged 69 years.
Paddy and his brother Billy served for many years in
both 37 and 36 Regiments.

Eric Burns
I am sad to report that Eric passed away on the
15th May 2014.
Eric served in 36 Regiment in Duisburg and Dortmund.

Len Teece
Len was the very last National Serviceman to serve in
36 Regiment. Len was a lovely man and a good
supporter of the 36 Reunion.
Len passed away in October 2014, and his Funeral took
place on the 13th October at Stafford Crematorium.

Bill Lant
Bill served in 36 Regiment for many years.
He sadly passed away aged 83 on the 18th Feb 2015
just seven days after his wife Mary passed away.

George Stacey
George served in 36 Regiment for many years,
and served in Duisburg, Dortmund and Shoeburyness.
A very proud Gunner who was a long serving
Chairman of the Shoeburyness Branch RAA.

Bill Ryan
Billy passed away on the 6th Dec 2015. He served
alongside his brother Paddy in 10 Battery for many years.
Billy was a dedicated soldier and many looked up to
him for help and advice.
His Funeral was held on the 15th Jan 2016 at
Wenallt Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium attended
by many members of 36 Regiment who ensured
he got a real Gunners sendoff.

Archie Moore
I am sad to report that ex WO11 Archie Moore passed away on the
28th Jan 2016. Archie was one time TSM F Troop.
We send our sympathy to his Daughter Wendy.

Rita Sutherland
I am very sad to report the passing of Rita on the
30th May 2016. Rita was the wife of Bill Sutherland
who passed away in 2006.

John Lee
It is my sad duty to report the passing of Johnnie Lee
after a long illness on the 17th December 2016.
John served in the Army from 1965 - 74, and in
36 Regiment in the UK and BAOR, and he will be missed
by many. John's funeral will take place at 12.30 on the
13th January at Swindon Crematorium.
We send our sympathy to John's wife Linda and
all the family.

Davy Fairweather
I am very sad to report the passing of Davy on the
14th January 2017 at the young age of 54. Davy had
been suffering a terminal illness for some time, which
he bore with great braveness and determination.
Davy was a Junior Leader, and joined Dragon Battery
in the early 80's. He was a Dragon through and through
and attended all but one of our Reunions.
Davy had many Shirts, Ties and Flags made for
both Dragon and Assaye Batteries.
His good humour and personality will be missed
by all his many comrades and friends.
Davy's funeral will take place on the 13th February
at St Nicholas Church, East Dereham at 13.45,
and then at 15.15 at Kings Lynn Crematorium.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Leanne and all the Family.

Gabi Barber
1958 - 2017
We were all saddened with the news that Gabi had
passed away on the 4th March 2017. Gabi had borne
her illness with great courage and humour.
She was a great support to Paul, not only as his wife,
but in the organization and running of the 36 Regiment
Reunions. We will all miss Gabi's spirit and fun of life.
We will never forget Gabi, and send all our sympathy to
Paul, Dan, Lissy, Amanda and all the Barber family.

Harry Hunt
13th January 2018, aged 86
I am sad to report the passing of ASM Harry Hunt.
Harry was attached to Dragon Battery, and ASM of the
REME Workshop in Dortmund from 1972 until Disbandment.
He survived his wife Val by one year.
Our deepest sympathy to his Daughter Elaine,
Son in Law Steve, and all the family.

Roy (Trapper) Hall
7/5/1954 - 2/10/2018
I am sad to report the tragic passing of Roy (Trapper) Hall.
Roy was taken ill on his way home from the 2018
36 Regiment Reunion.
Roy joined up in 1972, and was posted to 10 Bty,
36 Heavy Air Defence Regiment in Dortmund. On
disbandment he joined 43 Bty in 1977. He was stationed
in Sclhoss Neahaus with 39 Regiment, and then moved
back to Bulford in 1981/82 to join 32 GW Regiment.
In 1986, 43 Bty joined 47 regiment on Thorney Island.
During the late 80's he attemped SAS Selection twice,
injuries forced his return on both occassions.
In the early 90's as a Sgt, he went as a PSI posting
to another Unit. Roy left the Army in 1994.

and all of Roy's Family.

Joe Richardson
7th February 2019
I am sad to report the passing of Joe on the 7th February 2019.
Joe ws a great supporter of the 36 Reunions and will be
sorley missed.
We extend our sympathy to his wife Anne and all the
family at this sad time.

Mike Ansell
17th February 2019, aged 69
I am sorry to report the passing of Mike on the 17th February 2019.
Mike served in 10 Bty in Shoeburyness and Dortmund.
He was very popular and liked by all who knew him, myself included.
Mike fought a 6 month battle with cancer.

Valentine (Paddy) Lowry
22nd August 2019
It is with sadness that I inform you that Valentine passed away on
the 22nd August 2019.
Paddy as he was known served in both 111 Dragon Battery and
10 (Assaye) Battery during his service from 1960 until 1984.
His funeral took place on the 5th September at Narbeth Crematorium
in Pembrokeshire.
We send our deepest sympathy to his wife, son Richard and all his family.

John (Chalky) White
31st August 2019
Sadly John passed away on the 31st August. He had served with 36 Regiment in
Duisburg, Dortmund, Shoeburyness and again in Dortmund.
I first met Chalky whilst serving in E Troop, Dragon Battery at Shoeburyness in 1968,
he was then a Sgt on Launchers, and many years later we would be together again
as members of the Shoeburyness Branch RAA, together with other ex 36 comrades
who had settled in the Southend area.
Many tributes have been made about him, and all who knew John will say he was
a good man who got on with everyone he came into contact with, and he also
helped many progress with their army careers.
John's funeral took place on the 25th September at Southend Crematorium,
where he was given a full Gunners Funeral by the Shoeburyness Branch RAA
with their 25 Pdr Gun Carriage with full Honours.

John Graham Wilson
I am sad to report the passing of John on the
16th February 2020, aged 81.
John served in both 37 and 36 Regiments. He served in Manorbier, Foulness Ranges,
Pembroke Dock, Shoeburyness and Dortmund, and looked after the Golf course
at Napier Barracks. John left the Army in 1974.
We send our deepest sympathy to all of his family, and thanks
to his Step Daughter Wendy for sending on this information.

Ian Dennis
I am sorry to report that Ian passed away on the
27th February 2020, aged 67.
Ian served in 36 Regiment in both Shoeburyness and
Dortmund. Ian had been unwell for sometime, and had
born his illness with great courage, and was a fighter till the end.
We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Susan and all the Family for your loss.

Andy (Doc) Docherty
I am sorry to report that Andy passed away on the
26th March 2020.
Andy was a past member of A Troop, 10 (Assaye) Bty.

Winston (Taff) Lewis
28th May 2020
36 Regiment lost one of it's true stalwart's when Taff Lewis
passed away on the 28th May 2020.
He had served the Regiment for the best part of his long Army career, raising right through the
ranks to be a Commissioned Officer. Many will remember him, and have their own special memories of him.
He was also a very loyal member and Branch President
of the Shoeburyness RAA.
Oour deepest sympathy to all of his family from
all at 36 Regiment RA.

Glynn Healey
I am sorry to report that Glynn passed away today,
the 7th August 2020.
Glynn served with 36 Regiment as a member
of 36 REME Workshop in the early to mid 70's.
He was an accompished footballer, and played
for the Regimental Team. He had endured his
illness since March with great bravery.
We send our sincere sympathy to all Glynn's
family at this sad time.

Mick Cull
2nd December 2020
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing
of Mick Cull. Mick passed away in the early
hours of the 2nd December 2020.
Mick served in E Troop at Shoeburyness and
in Dortmund. He was a real character and
very popular at our Reunions, and will
be sorly missed.
I personally will miss Mick as we served
together at Shoeburyness and have some
great memories of our time together.
Mick's funeral took place on the 4th January.
Our deepest sympathy to all of Mick's
family and friends.

John Hughes
31st December 2020
Aged 62
It is with great sadness that we announce the
tragic passing of John on the 31st December 2020, this was due
to the Covid 19 Virus, which John fought a hard battle against.
John served with the Regiment in Dortmund with
HQ Troop MT & 10 Bty 1976-77. John will be
missed by all his Family, Friends and
old Comrades.

his son John William, and to all his family.

George (Paddy) Allen
12th January 2021
Aged 78
I am sad to report that Paddy passed away due to the Covid Pandemic in
the early hours of the 12th January, his daughter Donna was with him.
Paddy was a stand out personality and character in 36 Regiment for many years,
and all who knew him will always remember him for his ever smiling face and quick wit.
Paddy joined the Army in 1962, and served with the Regiment in Duisburg, Dortmund, Shoeburyness
and again in Dortmund. He qualified as a Small Arms Instructor, and was involved
with the Army Boxing Championships in Berlin. Most will remember him as one of E Troop's
10 Ton Drivers, myself being his co driver on many occassions.
Paddy will know doubt be rubbing shoulders with his old mates now in the Heavenly Battery Bar.
Now reunited with Jean.

Revd Reginald Woodall
Aged 88
I am sad to report the passing of Revd Reginald Woodall. Revd Woodall
was the Regiments Chaplin in Dortmund and Northern Ireland,
he held the Rank of Captain.
He was very proud of his association with 36 Regiment.
We extend our sympathy to his son Reginald, and all his family.
Revd Woodall's funeral will take place at the
City of London Cemetery on the 22nd Febuary 2021.

Christine Hardy

I am very sorry to report that Christine, the wife of
Mike Hardy passed away on the 25th November 2021.
Christine only recently attended our last Reunion.

Robert Watson

I am sad to report that Robert (Winker) Watson passed away on the
22nd November 2021 Aged 68 in Hull, East Yorkshire. Robert served
with 111 (Dragon) Bty.

Robert's Funeral will take place at the Crematorium, Small Chapel,
Chanterlands Avenue, Hull at 12.00 hrs on the 15th December.

Dominic Sciberras
26th Jan 1938 - 3rd Jan 2022
It is with extreme sadness that I announce the passing of Dominic on the
morning of the 3rd January 2022 in Melbourne, Australia.
​
Dominic joined the Army at the age of 16 in his home country of Malta.
He was a Trumpeter attached to 168 Bty, 36 HAA Regiment.
​
Dominic made the journey from Australia many times to attend our Reunion,
and became a firm friend to many. He was a true gentleman of the old school,
which endered him to many of our members.
​
Dominic's funeral took place on the 12th January.
​
We extend our deepest sympathy to his daughter Louise and all his family
at this sad time. Bern (Jimmy the Bean) Wilson is sending a Floral Tribute
to the family on behalf of 36 Regiment.

George Nobel
3rd February 2022
It is with sadness that I report that George passed away on the
3rd February 2022 at the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham,
six days after a road traffic accident on the 28th January.

George served with the REME LAD attached to 36 Hy AD Regiment in Dortmund. George had an Army career of 33 years. His funeral took
place on the 2nd March at Grantham Crematorium.

27th February after bravely bearing his illness.

1st March. David was a Corporal with the ACC
attached to 36 Hy AD Regiment in Dortmund.

Frank Woodall
24th April 2022
Frank sadly passed away on the 24th April. He was a great supporter of our Reunion's, and very rarely missed one.
Frank was never posted to 36 Regiment, but was part of the SAGW Modification Team based at Malvern. He spent a great deal of time over many years working on the kit.
He requested no formal funeral, but friends gathered on the 28th May to remember him.
Many of us are very grateful to own a Brass Thunderbird Missile, lovenly grafted by Frank, and I am sure we will all think of him when we look at our Missile, and give them a clean.

Tony Gawthorpe
28 January 1949 - 15 August 2022
Aged 73
It is with deep regret that I announce that Tony passed away in Scarborough Hospital
on Monday morning the 15th August. Tony had suffered a short illness, but was in
no pain and was kept comfortable.
Tony served in both 37 and 36 Regiments at Pembroke Dock and Shoeburyness.
I first met Tony on joining 36 at Shoeburyness in September 1968. When he found
out my home was in Hull, we became firm friends, and remained so until the
present day. We would travel up to Hull together on many occassions. Tony left
the Army and setteled down again in Hull, working for Weeks Trailers as a welder.
He also studied at Newbattle Abbey College and the University of Hull.
Tony lived his life to the full, and had a wide circle of friends not only in
Scarborough and Hull, but around the Country.
We would like to send our Deepest Sympathy to his partner Anita, his
daugther Dawn, son Mark and all his family and friends at this very sad time.
Tony will not be forgotten by all his old army buddy's.

I am sad to report that Eddie passed away on the 15th August 2022.
Eddie served with 36 Regiment in both Duisburg and Dortmund.

Jeff Thornton
21st August 2022
Aged 84
It is with sadness that I report that Jeff passed away on Sunday the
21st August aged 84 years.
Jeff joined the Royal Artillery in 1957, and served for 32 years.
He joined 37 Heavy AD Regiment in 1966, and on amalgamation with
36 Regiment in 1968 at Shoeburyness. He moved onto Dortmund
in July 1971.
Jeff became BSM of 10 (Assaye) Battery.
We send our deepest sympathy to Jeff's son Carl, daughter Alma
and all his family at this sad time.

Rob Piercy

Aged 77
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rob on
the 22nd August 2022 aged 77 years.
Rob served with 36 Regiment in Duisburg in HQ Battery. He also spent time
with the RAC Gunnery School Lulworth.
He served a total of 9 years, but always regretted it.
Our deepest condolances to all Rob's family and friends.

David (Taff) Lloyd
I am sad to report that David (Taffy) Lloyd passed away on the
3rd October 2022.
David served in in 36 Regiment between 1970 - 74 in both Shoeburyness and Dortmund. He served in E Troop, Dragon Bty
and was the driver of the LCP 10 Tonner.
David's funeral will take place on the 28th October.
Our sincere condolances to his wife and all of his family.

James (Brummie) Williams
29 April 1942 - 18 Oct 2023
I am very sad to report the passing of James (Brummie) Williams.
He served in 36 Regiment at Shoeburyness in HQ Bty, and in 1961 moved with
the Regiment firstly to Gutersloh, then onto Duisburg.
In 1963 James joined the RA Recruiting Troop at Woolwich.
James retired to Spain where he sadly passed away on the 18th October 2023.
Our sincere condolances to his wife and all of his family.

Ken Angove
I am very sad to report that Ken passed away on the
28th October 2023.
Ken served in both 7th Parachute Regiment and
36 Heavy AD Regiment. Ken was a popular attendee at
many of our Reunions.
We send our condolances to all of Ken's family at this sad time.
His funeral will take place at Barry Crematorium on the
17th November at 10.00hrs.

Trev Lacey
I am very sorry to report that Trev Lacey has passed away.
Trev served in 111 (Dragon Bty) at Shoeburyness and in Dortmund.
Trev was in the same group as myself when we took part in Exercise Snowqueen
in 1969. Trev was well respected by all who knew him, and a valued
member of the Regiment.
Trev Lacey's funeral will take place at
12:00hrs Wed 6th Dec 2023 at Stafford Crem,
the later at the Bird In Hand pub.

Ian Thomas
I am very sorry to report that Ian passed away on the 7th December 2023.
Ian had been unwell for sometime and had shown great strength during his illness.
Ian served in 111 (Dragon) Battery in Dortmund.

Ian's funeral will take place on the 24th January 2024 at Southend Crematorium
at 14.40. The wake will take place at the Chalkwell Rooms, Chalkwell Park.

Jan Davies
Sadly Jan passed away on the 20th December 2023.
Jan was the life and sole of many of our Reunions, and will
be sadly missed by all. Now reunited with Albert.
Her funeral will be at the Crematorium at Cwmbran on the
8th January at 14.30

Robert (Bob) Grigg
My sad duty to report that Bob passed away on the
20th December 2023. Bob served with both 36 and 37 Regiments
and was based in Manorbier and Shoeburyness.
Bob was a proud member of Dragon Battery. Although not in the best
of health Bob made it to our last Reunion in September.
We send our deepest sympathy to Brenda and all the family.

Dave Phipps
My sad duty to report that Dave passed away in 2017.
Dave served in A Troop, 10 (Assaye) Bty 1973 - 77
Dave was very well respected and liked by many of his comrades
and the news of his passing came as a great shock.
We send our upmost sympathy to Claudia and all his family.

Tina Muir
Tina sadly passed away on the 21st April 2024.
Tina was the daughter of our very own Bill Williams.
She was very helpful to myself and Steve Meaton in loaning
photos that Bill had taken in 36 Regiment over the years.
Tina was a real Army Brat, having been born at BMH,
educated in West Germany at BFES, and lived for
many years in BAOR.
We send our deepest sympaty to her brother Ronald
and her son Phillip and all the family.

Dave Freeman
WO2 Dave Freeman has sadly passed away.
Dave served in 36 Regiment, 16 AD Regiment and others during
his army career.
Dave's funeral will take place on the 3rd July at Mintlyn Crematorium,
Kings Lynn.

I am sad to report that Tom passed away on the 27th May 2024,
aged 86 years.
Tom was the F Troop Tiffy, and later became ASM of M Platoon.

Alan Maymon
My apoligies for the late inclusion of Alan's passing.
Alan was a member of 111 (Dragon) Bty, 36 Heavy AD Regiment in Dortmund.
Alan was a keen supporter of our Reunion, and is missed very
much by his comrades.
